Description

Posture was very important for the prospective teacher. The entire school marches with blocks of wood on their head in this 1892 photograph of students at the State Normal School (now Worcester State College). The contributor remarks, "In today’s school system, teachers could care less about the posture of the student, teachers are lucky enough if students actually show up to class never mind how straight they can sit up in their chairs."
